The New Surgery
Patient Participation Group Meeting
Saturday 23rd January 2016
Attended DG MG SC JG DC KK SK
No apologies recieved.
The PM opened the meeting and discussed the results and actions from the previous meeting which had suggested handing out quastionnaires to patients regarding the PPG.
Seventy patients were given a questionnaire, their response was that they had no concerns regarding the practice; however some patients requested minutes of meetings but were unavailable to become group members.
The Chairperson acknowledged that although only small in numbers the group did represent a cross section of the practice population, however he did ask for ideas for promoting the group to encourage more members to join. One member suggested advertising on the practice website and also posters in the waiting room together with contact numbers of current members. Also more leaflets in the surgery for patients asking for their views on various aspects of the surgery i.e. the appointment system, waiting times etc.
Moving forward the group decided to focus on diverse groups, all agreed carers of patients. The chairperson suggested that we consider how best to involve/engage this group (carers) and this be discussed at the next meeting, one of the group agreed to devise a questionnaire to bring to the next meeting for discussion.
The meeting then closed and the PM and Chairperson thanked everyone for coming to what was a constructive and interesting meeting.
The next meeting arranged for Saturday 12th March at 10 am.
